You also get access to me as a sounding board for your website.

What do you mean by “web hosting”?

Web hosting is simply where your website lives on the internet.

Just like files live on your computer, your website files live on a secure server so people can access your site 24/7 from anywhere.

Without hosting, a website can’t be viewed online.

My care plans include professionally managed hosting, that is monitored 24 x 7 so you don’t need to arrange this separately or worry about technical setup, security, or server issues.

Do you provide web hosting?

I partner with professional UK-based hosting provider Rochen* that manages the server infrastructure, performance and security 24/7. Their team proactively monitors the hosting environment and resolves server-level issues as they arise.

You don’t deal with them directly,  I do so if anything goes wrong, you still have one clear point of contact who understands your site and can act quickly.

On top of that, I manage your website itself, updates, backups, security, and troubleshooting, so nothing falls through the cracks.

I have used Rochen since I started my business in 2013 and their support (though rarely needed for hosting issues) is excellent.

Why does WordPress need regular updates?

WordPress works in a similar way to your phone, tablet or computer.

It relies on software (the WordPress core, theme and plugins), and updates are released regularly to:

  • Improve security
  • Fix bugs
  • Maintain compatibility
  • Add functionality

Without regular updates, websites become more vulnerable to:

  • Security issues
  • Broken features
  • Compatibility problems
  • Downtime

That’s why updates are always paired with backups, so your site can be safely restored if anything goes wrong.

Can I opt out of the care plan?

All clients are auto enrolled in the hosting and care plan but yes, it is optional and you can opt-out.

However, you’ll still need web hosting, as your website needs a place to live on the internet.

If you opt out of the care plan, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Managing hosting yourself
  • Running regular updates
  • Taking and storing backups
  • Resolving issues if something breaks
  • Arranging security and monitoring

Most clients choose a care plan because it removes this responsibility and reduces risk, leaving them to focus on growing their business.

Can you guarantee my website will never go down?

No one can guarantee that, and really anyone who does isn’t being honest.

What can be done is proactive monitoring and preventative maintenance, which dramatically reduces risk.

By keeping your website:

  • Updated
  • Backed up daily
  • Actively monitored
  • Scanned for security issues

You minimise problems and ensure there’s a safety net in place if anything unexpected happens.

Why is this better than cheap hosting?

Budget hosting is usually just space on a server, support is limited, reactive, and often doesn’t include help with WordPress itself and won’t help with any website advice you may need as your business grows.

With my care plans, you’re getting:

In practice, this often costs less than fixing problems after the fact.

What payment methods do you accept?

I accept payments through Stripe or via Direct Debit.

Do I need my own licences for themes, plugins or email tools?

In most cases, no.

As part of my care plans, your website benefits from my professional developer licences for the core tools used to build and maintain your site, including the website builder, image optimisation and transactional email delivery.

For the majority of the simple, service-based websites I work on, this covers everything needed to keep the site running smoothly.

Occasionally, a website may require additional specialist functionality that sits outside my core tech stack; for example, a niche plugin such as a recipe system or other highly specific features. In those cases, the relevant licence would be held by you, and I’ll always flag this clearly in advance.

My aim is to keep websites streamlined, reliable and cost-effective, without unnecessary tools or subscriptions.

If you hosted your website elsewhere or managed it yourself, you’d typically need to:

Purchase premium licences

Renew them annually

Keep them updated and compatible

Troubleshoot issues if they stop working

By including these within your care plan, you avoid those extra costs and the ongoing admin that comes with them.

Are content updates included in the care plan?

Content updates are included in some careplans but not all. 

Content updates might include text changes or image swaps, minor tweaks or mini consultations.

Pages additions, design tasks and additional functionality are not included, these can be provided via VIP Days, 1/2 VIP Days or power hours depending on requirements.

Does content update time rollover each month?

No, any extra time included in your plan must be used that month.

What if my website crashes or I accidentally delete a section?

If this happens I can restore your website from one of our daily backups (some care plans offer more frequent backups, useful where content is updated regularly).

Our care plans form part of a preventative maintenance plan.

Do you personally provide 24x7 support?

While I don’t provide out-of-hours technical support, my hosting partner monitors and supports 24 x 7, so issues are often already being investigated before you even notice them.
